2007 Nov 19:

Updating a set of SPOTs to the Purple release in order to run some new TrackBot code which takes advantage of the TrackBot obstacle sensor array. Turns out to do this you need a new SPOT Manager application. Get it by dowloading a jnlp file at http://sunspotworld.com/spotmanager/ - click on "Launch the Sun SPOT Manager application" and save that file to your local hard disk. Then double click on SPOTManager.jnlp and you will download a new rev 2.0 version of SPOTManager and can then download the 20071018 Purple SDK release.

Ran "ant upgrade" at the root sdk folder command prompt, and 1:55 later Purple is loaded.

Purple benchmarks online here (summary: Purple is a bit faster than Orange).

Serial bugs in Purple (and all earlier releases): see this SunSpotWorld forum posting for the details. Shawn has written a (sort of) work around but the bottom line is the eDemo UART can't receive asynchronous data because events don't work.
